Build Community, Create Together, and Support Stitch Buffalo
The Community Fabric Project brings together people from all walks of life to craft collaborative textiles—weaving people and communities together across the city. We believe that when people create together they find peace of mind, happiness, and well being. Through this work, we hope to demonstrate that all our successes are mutual and contribute to a community of trust that uplifts everyone.
HOW IT WORKS
Unused jeans are donated to Stitch Buffalo by our partners at Goodwill of WNY.
Stitch Buffalo staff, artisans, and volunteers process the denim using our Felt Loom—turning MANY pairs of jeans into ONE piece of fabric.
Community members attend or plan a workshop to make their mark on the upcycled denim fabric using block printing, appliqué, and other textile techniques.
THE RESULT
Each one-of-kind piece of fabric, designed by the community, will be sewn into products for the Stitch Buffalo store. This creates work for members of the Refugee Women’s Workshop and a source of revenue to support Stitch Buffalo’s programs—all while keeping denim waste out of landfills.
Products from the Community Fabric Collection
will debut in a launch event in March 2026!
