Speaking of Revolution: A Community Conversation with Stitch Buffalo and Humanities New York—June 25, 2026 | 6:30–8:00pm
Stitch Buffalo is partnering with Humanities New York and Ekua Mends-Aidoo of Clementine Gold Group on Speaking of Revolution, a facilitated Community Conversation exploring how people and communities experience change and renewal.
This conversation will consider making, memory, and connection as ways of thinking about community life. Participants will reflect on the knowledge people inherit and share, and on what it means to build community with responsibility and care. We invite participants to consider questions such as:
● What does community look like right now, and what do we want it to become?
● How can shared practices help communities carry memory while building connection and renewal?
Speaking of Revolution is Humanities New York’s contribution to By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils across the United States, its territories, and the District of Columbia in collaboration with local partners. Together, these programs explore 250 years of the nation’s cultural life and imagine its shared future.
The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as a complement to the 2026 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. These conversations create space to exchange ideas and think together in good faith.
REGISTRATION:
Participants should expect to actively contribute. Registration is required, and the event is provided at no cost to participants, but space is limited. To support an open, participatory conversation, registration is limited to 25 participants.
