Explore the intersection of traditional art, economy, and community building through the artists, community members, and activities of Stitch Buffalo, a textile-arts based organization based in Buffalo, New York. With a mission of empowerment, community building, creativity, and cultural preservation, the organization was founded in 2014 in response to the rapid resettlement of refugees in Buffalo. This traveling exhibition developed by the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University and Stitch Buffalo features interpretive panels, artist photo profile panels, an exhibition catalog, short-form videos, an exhibit interactive exploring art and economy, and 20 to 30 artworks of various types and sizes.

You are invited to participate in a community-wide project memorializing the victims of the racially motivated massacre that occurred on May 14, 2022, in Buffalo, NY.
Stitch Buffalo’s store and studio will be closed on Saturday, May 25, in honor of Memorial Day.
Learn to print and paint with ferrous sulfate (iron) solution onto cotton textiles that have been prepared in different tannin baths (gallant, myrobalan, and cutch). Each student will make three cotton kitchen towels. ***OR*** If you are also registered for our June 8 hand-sewn shirt class, you may print your fabric for that project. There is a discounted rate when you register at the same time for both classes (click through for details).

In this size-inclusive class (XXS–5XL), students will create a simple, unisex shirt using upcycled vintage cotton. From cutting, to sewing, to embellishment, each step is accomplished using simple tools and easy-to-learn techniques. No experience is required. **There is a discounted rate when you register at the same time for this class and our June 1 class on printing with ferrous sulfate** (click through for details).
Designed for beginners, this course offers a structured approach to mastering the craft, with essential techniques and skills that will serve as the building blocks for your knitting journey. The class meets on Saturdays (June 8, 15, 22, and 29) from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Learn the art of creating raw-edge appliqué designs with your sewing machine. Our previous sessions of this class sold out quickly, so register TODAY!

Practice three types of hems seen in everyday and special-occasion clothing.
In this 3-hour session, we will convert a sweater or sweatshirt into a zip up cardigan/jacket. You will learn how to work with knits so that they look professional (no waviness!). We will also cover basic size alterations.

Restyle your jeans (from hip down only in this class) with godets (a triangular insert). Make your skinny jeans straight, wide, or flared using this very basic technique. The instructor will also cover strategies for altering your denims at the waist or hip, and getting more length.
Create a beautiful and lightweight accessory unique to your own style and taste, while learning the art of nuno-felting.
This class is designed for intermediate students (including graduates of our four-week class for beginners) who want to build skills and learn practical applications for their sewing machine. Classes will be held weekly on Wednesdays (September 4, 11, 18, 25) 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
Derived from the Japanese word "nuno" (meaning “cloth”), nuno felting is a technique that bonds loose fiber, usually wool, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt. This class will be led by Suzanne O’Brien, an award-winning artist and juried artist member of the Roycroft Campus Arts and Craftsman Guild.

Help us break in our new Dye/Print Studio with a day of indigo resist dyeing! Grab a white garment or other small textile item and dive into the basics of indigo dyeing. Two sections available: 10am–12pm and 1pm–3pm
