Introduction to Indigo Resist Dyeing—July 25, 2026 (10:00am–2:00pm)
$50.00

Join us to learn binding/folding resist dyeing techniques with indigo dye. You can dye fabric from our stash, or bring your own natural-fiber (cotton, wool, or silk) garments, napkins, pillowcases, etc. to dye. Indigo dyeing is a great way to give new life to stained or dingy white textiles!

  • Planning a design

  • Tying or clamping fabric for resist dyeing

  • Preparing and dyeing your garment or fabric

  • Finishing and setting the dye

WHAT TO BRING:
Bring your own item to dye. A shirt, skirt, dress, pillowcase, tea towel, tote bag, or set of napkins makes an ideal project. (We are unable to accommodate very large projects, such as duvet covers.)

For the best results, select a white garment/item that is made with 100% natural fibers, such as cotton, wool, linen, hemp, or silk. If you choose a natural/synthetic blend, it will result in a paler shade of blue.

INSTRUCTOR:
Dawne Hoeg is the founder and Executive Director of Stitch Buffalo. She taught in the Textile and Fiber Arts Design Department at Buffalo State College and served as the handwork teacher at the Aurora Waldorf School.
