Deconstructed Screen Printing—June 6 & 13, 2026 (10:00am–2:00pm)
$90.00

Learn how to paint fabric with dyes! Students will use screen printing frames, freezer paper, tape, and other tools to create unique patterns on cotton fabric using dyes mixed with print paste. Print paste can be mixed and layered to create one-of-a-kind patterns. Students may also use unconventional materials as a resist on the cloth, like mesh or rubber bands, to give it a textured look.

Once the print paste has dried, the students can apply the heat-setting technique, rinse their fabric, and use it for a sewing project. They may also leave the dye on the fabric and hang it as an art piece.

Deconstructed screen printing is an experimental method that anyone with any level of experience can participate in. This class will provide a better understanding of the various ways in which dyes can be applied to fabric.
