Prerequisites:
This class is NOT for absolute beginners. Students should have completed Introduction to Machine Sewing at Stitch Buffalo or have equivalent experience.
ABOUT:
Turn an unwanted sweater into your new favorite pair of mittens—complete with a cozy fleece lining. These mittens are also perfect for holiday giving! This project is quick, fun, and a little bit addictive!
SUPPLIES:
We have a few sweaters to work from or you may bring your own sweater to upcycle. A sweater with a ribbed finish on the bottom edge is preferred. All other fabric, tools, and supplies are included.
Students may work on our studio sewing machines or bring their own. If you choose to bring your own machine, please make sure it is in good working order and you are confident operating it.
INSTRUCTORS:
Jane Cameron and Caitlin Powalski are experienced garment sewists and long-time participants at Stitch Buffalo. Jane is a current board member of Stitch Buffalo, while Caitlin is a volunteer in our sewing machine repair and maintenance program.
SUSTAINABILITY:
Stitch Buffalo is committed to fostering sustainability practices and reducing waste in the textile industry. In this workshop, we will strive to minimize waste and work as much as possible with supplies that have been rescued for reuse.
INCLUSION & ACCESSIBILITY:
Stitch Buffalo is an ADA compliant facility, with accessible entrances, tables, restrooms, and drinking fountains. Please contact us if you require any accommodations to make your visit safe and comfortable. We are happy to work with you!
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Due to the nature of this class and the preparation required, class fees are non-refundable.
