Derived from the Japanese word "nuno" (meaning “cloth”), nuno felting is a technique that bonds loose fiber, usually wool, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt. Nuno felting often incorporates several layers of loose fibers combined to build up color, texture, and/or design elements in the finished fabric. The process results in lightweight, stable fabrics with excellent movement and drape for wearable works of art.
SUPPLIES
The registration fee of $95 includes instruction ($85) and all supplies, wool and silk ($10).
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
This class will be led by Suzanne O’Brien, an award-winning artist and juried artist member of the Roycroft Campus Arts and Craftsman Guild. Suzanne is an experienced fiber arts instructor and the owner of ZanieCrafts.
