Community Mending Circle—May 19, 2026 (2:00–4:00pm)

from $5.00

Bring new life to the clothes you already love and be part of a growing movement toward a more thoughtful, sustainable wardrobe.

Community Mending Circles are relaxed, welcoming gatherings for anyone who wants to repair, refresh, or personalize clothing and household textiles. Whether you’re fixing a torn seam, patching well-worn jeans, or experimenting with visible mending as a form of self-expression, this is a space to slow down, learn by doing, and connect with others who care about their clothes.

Instead of replacing items or relying on fast fashion, mending invites you to extend the life of what you own, reduce waste, and develop practical skills that empower you long after the session ends. Beginners are welcome, and experienced sewists will find plenty of inspiration in the shared knowledge and creativity of the group.

There’s no formal lesson plan or instruction, but you won’t be on your own. Stitch Buffalo staff and volunteers are available to offer tips, demonstrations, and encouragement as you work at your own pace. Conversation flows easily, advice is shared freely, and everyone leaves with something stronger—both their garments and their connection to the community.

Participants will have access to:

  • A mending materials “buffet” stocked with supplies sourced from Second Stitch donations

  • Sewing machines with multiple thread colors

  • Scissors, pins/needles, thread, marking tools, and general sewing tools

  • Stitch Buffalo’s library of books on mending and repair

  • Support from experienced staff members and volunteers

Come for the practical skills. Stay for the sense of care, creativity, and community!
