Introduction to Pine Needle Basketry—September 26, 2026 (10:00am–3:00pm)
For nature lovers, gardeners, and herbalists, weaving with pine needles brings an opportunity practice an age-old craft while spending more time with plants. In this workshop we’ll delve into basic principles and work with sustainably collected materials (likely to be locally sourced). We’ll discuss advantages and limitations of working with various needle choices, and explore preparation methods and different basic techniques to weaving—or, more precisely “coiling”—to create a small basket or coaster during our time together.
SUPPLIES:
The class fee includes instruction ($70.00), as well as all tools and materials ($8.00)
PREREQUISITES:
No previous experience is required. We’ll be working with pine needles, a sewing needle and threads to get us started.
