This project is inspired in part by the artist Frida Kahlo, who often wore elaborate blouses and skirts she embroidered with Mexican sayings. In this workshop, you will learn how to use water-soluble adhesive stabilizer, printed with the words of your choice, to embroider your thoughts onto a vintage textile item (napkin, hand towel, or handkerchief). We think you’ll discover this is an addictive practice—and one you’ll want to use to incorporate meaningful words onto other clothing or personal items.

Before the class, we will contact you for a short quotation, lines of poetry, or other words that inspire (or amuse) you. These will be printed onto stabilizer to be used in the project.

INSTRUCTOR:
Cheri Vogelbaum is a multi-disciplinary artist and creative instructor with years of experience teaching hands-on techniques in textiles and jewelry. Her classes focus on building skills, confidence, and a supportive space for creative exploration.
