Khamak-Inspired Zipper Pouch by Masooda

Khamak-Inspired Zipper Pouch by Masooda

$30.00

This pouch features a traditional cross-stitched design by a member of the Refugee Women’s Workshop at Stitch Buffalo. It is a kind of counted cross-stitch that is closely related to the traditional Southern Afghanistan embroidery style of Khamak (pronounced kha-mahk). Inspired by complex Islamic geometric and botanical patterns, the artisans never sketch their design onto the fabric prior to embroidering, working instead from memory and imagination.

The fully lined interior uses upcycled materials donated to our studio through the Second Stitch program.
