Machine Sewing: Minimal Waste Kaftan (All Sizes)—August 2, 2025 (10:00am–4:00pm)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
This class is not appropriate for absolute beginners. Students should be confident in the use of a sewing machine (winding bobbins, threading the machine, etc.) and basic sewing operations.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The kaftan is a timeless garment with roots across many cultures, traditionally worn for its comfort, elegance, and adaptability. In this class, you’ll learn how to sew your own modern version of a kaftan using a minimal waste pattern—a sustainable approach that eliminates fabric scraps and embraces the full potential of your textile.
Kaftans are the ultimate versatile wardrobe piece: wear yours as a breezy summer dress, a stylish layering piece over jeans and a tank, or even as a luxurious loungewear staple. The pattern can be adapted to fit any size or body shape. You’ll leave with a beautiful, handmade kaftan and the confidence to experiment with minimalist garment design in your own sewing practice.
SUPPLIES:
Class fee includes instruction ($90) and all materials ($15).

Brittany Triggs is an attorney and accomplished sewist who enjoys sharing her skills with new machine sewing students.
