Intermediate Machine Sewing: Introduction to Quilting—June 13, 2026 (10:00am–1:00pm)
Learn the fundamentals of quilt-making while designing a project that is uniquely yours. Using a pattern called a Disappearing Pinwheel, you’ll choose from fabrics and layouts to create a range of effects can be strikingly different. The class will cover everything from pattern design and fabric/color choices, to construction and finishing techniques. You will choose four designs (each about 12" in size), which can be combined to make a small quilt or individual cushion covers.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Please note: This class is NOT appropriate for absolute beginners. Students must know how to thread and operate a sewing machine and should have completed at least a few basic projects within the last 5 years. Completion of Stitch Buffalo’s “Introduction to Machine Sewing” class or equivalent experience is required.
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES:
All fabric, tools, and supplies (including the use of our studio sewing machines) is included. There is nothing you need to bring.
INSTRUCTOR:
Elita Sharpe currently divides her time between Buffalo, NY, and Geneva, Switzerland, where she lived for 27 years. She has been quilting for 20+ years and hosts annual alpine quilt retreats called “Patchwork in the Peaks.” She also offers sewing machine maintenance services and makes cool stuff for her online shop.
