Renew, Reconsider & Reimagine Your Clothes: Basic to Extreme Alterations—September 15, 22, 29 and October 6 (4:30–7:00pm)
We will evaluate multiple pieces from your closet for basic alterations or mild to extreme makeovers. We will cover the basics of altering garments—including how to disassemble, reassemble, and re-size your clothes, embellish or completely re-style a garment.
Skills you will learn or practice:
How to assess fit and plan out alterations
Order of deconstruction/reconstruction
Hemming (shortening or lengthening)
How to take in or let out seams
Adding shape using darts, tucks, pleats, ruching, or gathering
Changing a neckline (t-shirts, etc.)
Adding panels/godets to side seams
Embellishing with decorative stitches, appliqué, lace insertion, etc.
SUPPLIES:
Students are encouraged to bring a few pieces from their wardrobe to work on with instructor guidance. Bring those “if only” garments—the ones you like but rarely wear because the fit or style is not quite right. Click here for some ideas to get you inspired.

This class is not for beginner sewists. Students must have advanced beginner or intermediate level machine sewing experience, ideally with garment construction.
