Beginner Machine Sewing Intensive: Tool Apron—Private Class for Five (Stephanie Lawson)
This one-day class is ideal for less experienced sewists who want to learn the fundamentals of machine sewing through a simple project—completed in one day! Students will work on our studio sewing machines, so you don’t need to bring anything. Class fee covers instruction plus use of our tools, fabrics, and supplies.
Class is limited to 5 students. Date and time will be determined by mutual agreement between students, instructor, and Stitch Buffalo.
Morning (10:00am–12:30pm)—Check machine performance; practice seams; begin constructing a sewing tool organizer/apron
You will learn: The basic parts of a sewing machine, including how to select needle, thread, and feet; winding bobbins; threading the machine; and making basic adjustments to stitch length, style, and tension. You will then begin construction of a tool organizer/apron from pre-cut materials.
12:30–1:00pm—Lunch on your own.
Afternoon (1:00pm–4:00pm)—Sewing tool organizer/apron
Continue to develop your sewing skills through the construction of tool organizer/apron. You will learn seam finishing techniques, adjusting for heavier fabric and multiple layers, marking techniques, and how to interfacing/stabilizer.
