Within the warp and weft of creativity, innovation and design, there is an innate talent within us all just waiting to be developed and evolve. In this class, we will stretch our imaginations and create a “collage” tapestry design that is a few steps away from what is generally known as a tapestry and ventures into the world of fine art.

We will first make a design within the weave of an alternative picture plane “collage.” This will be followed by basting down the design, sewing the pieces in place on the sewing machine and by hand. Finally, we will use embroidery and all kinds of embellishments (trim and lace scraps, buttons, appliqués, buttons, sequins, found objects, yarn, and other materials) to build an imagined landscape on the picture plane.

The work is heart-warming piece of soft sculpture and wall art that can be hung on the wall with a 2” band to accommodate a curtain rod or a tree stick. The possibilities are infinite!
